Exercise Therapy Program for Post
Chemotherapy and Post Radiation Patients
Liberate Personal
Training is proud to offer a service to
help people who have been through this
physically demanding treatment. After
working with Afshin Bahador M.D* for
many months, Lynda Linforth has been
able to develop an exercise therapy
program that benefits the following:
- Lymphedema
- Neuropathy
- Fatigue
- Pain from
treatments and surgery
- Taking control
of one’s physical and emotional
wellbeing
By working closely
with your medical professional, Lynda is
able to custom design an exercise
program that will include strength
training, cardiovascular conditioning
and flexibility training. By working
one on one with clients, she is able to
best assist them in their quest for
health.
“Some days when I
come into see Lynda I am in a lot of
pain or I am extremely tired. She is
able to change my work out to suit my
ability on a session by session basis.
The workouts are making me feel stronger
and I feel as though I can finally take
control of what is happening to my
body. Every time I leave the gym, I
feel as though I could do anything. I
have so much energy and I feel motivated
to do things that I have not wanted to
do for months. She has also made me
make better food choices and has
suggested we spend a session in the
supermarket so I can learn more about
nutrition.” Les Rush, 65, Cancer
survivor.
“There were days
when Barbara didn’t have much strength
to even get out of bed, but every
Tuesday and Thursday (baring chemo
sessions) she made it to the gym for
Lynda to work with her. She said she
always felt better for the exercise and
stretching.” David Garrett, husband of
Barbara Garrett, 74.
“I had already been
training with Lynda for many years when
I discovered the lump in my breast.
After my surgery, Lynda was able to
change my workouts so we would not cause
any damage to my chest. In fact, the
increased activity loosened up my
surgical area and it felt good to
stretch. The strength training and the
cardio conditioning helped increase my
energy levels and I always felt better
leaving the gym than when I had
arrived. I fought cancer with such a
strong will and I will continue to take
control of my body and mind with the
same ferocity.” Karen Swisher, 45,
Cancer survivor.
“There is nothing
that is keeping me as strong and agile
as exercise and working out. I have
lymphedema and neuropathy after breast
cancer and chemotherapy. I have reduced
range of motion in my shoulders due to
nerve damage and I have back pain. The
treatment I have received from Lynda,
coupled with my physical therapist, has
enabled me to stop walking with a walker
and only occasionally do I have to use
my cane. I wish I had done this years
ago!” Jean Veblen, 80.
"One of the first
things you notice about Lynda is that
she genuinely cares about the people she
is working with. Her interaction with
her clients is light-hearted, fun but
above all, empathetic. The second thing
you notice about Lynda is her desire to
learn. She absorbs information and then
is able to apply it to her work. To
Lynda, exercise therapy is a
multifaceted discipline, integrating
musculoskeletal physiotherapy with
weight bearing cardiovascular routines
to help attain each individual's
personal goals. Lynda is very conscious
of her clients' limitations (e.g.
exercise tolerance, physical
limitations, etc.) and, therefore,
tailors each session accordingly. The
most important quality that Lynda
possesses, however, is not just her high
level of professionalism or her sense of
compassion, but it is her optimism.
This quality helps her clients believe
in themselves so that they can achieve
their fitness goals. In my opinion, it
is her optimism that makes Lynda so
successful in helping individuals
battling cancer or other chronic
ailments. The healing benefits of
exercise have been demonstrated
extensively in the medical literature,
and I strongly encourage all patients
who have finished their chemotherapy,
radiation, or who have had surgery, to
embark on a structured exercise
program. I highly recommend Lynda's
Exercise Therapy sessions to all people
who wish to improve their lifestyle
after surgery or therapy in a safe and
fun environment." Afshin Bahador, MD.
